The first Reelinā for Research tournament was held in 2009 in memory of Tony Montana who passed away from cancer in 2005. Tony was blessed to live a long and full life, but remarked during his battle that children with cancer were too often deprived of that chance.
Tonyās son Richard, along with a group of his friends, decided to honor Tonyās memory by doing something to try to change that. Wanda's Little Rescues is a not-for-profit rescue that is based in Raleigh, NC. Our goal is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome abused, unwanted and abandoned dachshunds from kill shelters in and around the Carolinas. We also will take in strays from the street. On occasion, we will also save a dachshund from Craigslist, to keep them from falling into the wrong hands for unspeakable reasons. We pledge to not overlook the ones who are old, injured or ill.
